Cosmetic Chemist - Carson, CA Summary: The Cosmetic Chemist will create and develop innovative and differentiated solutions for new and improved cosmetic products. This role involves researching technology, concepts, and materials to support product development goals, using project management techniques, and providing technical expertise. The chemist will also ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices, and support patent applications.
Details: - Pay rate: $28 - $30/hr
- Shift: Day time shift with flexible start time between 6:30am - 8:30am; 8hr shifts
- Duration: Temp-to-Hire
Responsibilities: - Create and develop innovative and differentiated solutions.
- Develop new and improved products, ideas, processes, protocols, techniques, and systems.
- Utilize project management techniques to drive multiple concurrent opportunities.
- Conduct research on assigned technology, concepts, materials, and technical opportunities.
- Evaluate materials or technologies to assess technical performance.
- Use experimental designs to research, analyze, and interpret data for feasibility and efficacy.
- Scan and research new concepts, materials, and technical opportunities proactively.
- Provide, interpret, and communicate technical information using standard formats.
- Represent R&D by providing and communicating practical technical information and project status.
- Serve as a technical and problem-solving resource.
- Recommend product modifications and process improvements.
- Support other R&D functions, PMG, and Regulatory. Develop and/or improve test methodologies and processes.
- Support patent or licensing applications and maintain confidentiality.
- Follow and support current Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices.
- Develop new formulations and technologies for improved performance and/or cost reduction.
- Establish new methods for evaluating products.
- Lead interactions with contract formulation labs.
- Prepare samples for testing (stability, efficacy, or safety).
- Identify process improvements for routine lab testing.
- Prepare specifications for raw materials and formulations.
- Support scale-up and pilot plant processing.
- Document projects through technology transfer documentation and project reports.
- Develop new processes for new or existing products.
- Design experiments and protocols to ensure scalability and robustness.
- Interact with external contract analytical labs to extend capabilities and manage external testing.
- Determine and manage data collection methods for research projects and panel surveys.
- Analyze information and evaluate results to identify issues and make recommendations.
- Develop and deliver technical communications to support product performance and infection control strategies.
- Prepare scientific presentations for colleagues, customers, and technical conferences.
- Participate in professional and technical organizations.
- Optimize existing techniques, methods, and processes and implement improvements.
- Create publications and/or presentations for technical conferences.
- Maintain all aspects of the departmental lab and establish laboratory processes.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a similar applied science field required.
- A minimum of one year of professional industry experience in a chemistry focused role
