Job Summary: The Data Governance Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a data governance framework that ensures high data quality, data security, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role will collaborate with various departments to implement data management policies, procedures, and standards to ensure high quality data is available for strategic decision making.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and Implement Data Governance Framework:

  • Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Develop a data governance roadmap and strategic plan.
  • Define data ownership and stewardship roles.

Data Quality Management:

  • Monitor data quality metrics and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Enable standardized regular data audits and assessments.
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.

Policy Creation and Compliance:

  • Develop policies for data management including guiding principles for data creation and maintenance, security, access management, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Implement and maintain data privacy and security policies.
  • Conduct regular compliance reviews and audits.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work with data stewards and owners across the organization.
  • Facilitate data governance council meetings and workshops.
  • Provide training and support to stakeholders on data governance practices.
  • Expertly navigate complex organizational structure to drive initiatives and gain consensus.

Data Management:

  • Oversee the management of data dictionaries, metadata, and data catalogs.
  • Ensure proper data lifecycle management.
  • Develop and maintain a data governance documentation repository.

Technology and Tools:

  • Evaluate and recommend data governance tools and technologies.
  • Collaborate with IT to integrate data governance solutions with existing systems.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Develop and present data governance reports and dashboards.
  • Communicate data governance initiatives and progress to senior management.
  • Promote a data-driven culture within the organization.

Data Driven Decision Making:

  • Develop processes to ensure high quality data is available for strategic decision making
  • Implement processes and tools for effective data solutions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices.
  • Familiarity with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience in Executive communications
  • Excellent documentation skills with ability to cater approach based on target audience
  • Experience with data governance tools and technologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Professional certifications in data governance or data management (e.g., CDMP, DGSP).
  • Experience in large scale, complex data and organization environments
  • Knowledge of data architecture and data modeling.
  • Advanced SharePoint setup and maintenance of content
  • Organizing large amounts of content in platforms such as SharePoint or Confluence in a user friendly manner.
