The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program offers unique opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and over to support the Department of Agriculture?s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant administered program awarded to National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). This is a unique program where your talents, expertise, and experience will truly be valued. The ACES program provides an opportunity to work side-by-side with NRCS staff who are doing important work every day. This opportunity applies to applicants legally eligible to work in the United States.Qualifications:Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in As a Soils Conservation Technician. OR AA Degree in Natural Resources OR Previously completed training in Soils Conservation.Valid State Driver?s license.Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS ExcelArcGIS skills are required.Duties:Assist the Lubbock Resource Team Staff in supporting the delivery of Farm Bill programs. Technical work will be performed in support of the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and Conservation Stewardship Program (CStP). ACES enrollee will assist staff in completing the layout, design, and checkout of engineering practices related to conservation programs. Enrollee may also assist with other conservation planning responsibilities, as needed.Make approximately 10- 50 field visits to meet with producers to determine conservation needs and assist with conservation practice development.30%Design approximately 25-75 proposed projects using appropriate eFOTG Practice Standards and Specifications.30%Uses a Global Positioning System (GPS), engineering level and/or measuring wheel to estimate 25 - 75 planned practices and make a final measure of completed practices.30%Conduct site inspections of 25 to 75 projects to ensure that practices being installed meet technical agency specifications.10%Other:Subject to mandatory USDA Computer Security and Privacy training mandated by law.Engineering Job Approval Authority and new practice design standards.Travel Requirements: Travel to the producer?s property to survey, design, and certify practices.Required Safety Gear: Any training would be practice-specific and would be OJT performed by the local TSO engineer.
